From advertising to the real world.

I've been in marketing for 14+ years. I’ve worked with great creative and business minds. Some people write about business. Some people write about life. I try to write about where the business lessons and life lessons meet.

RELATIONSHIPS

We all want to build the best relationships that we can. And it starts with people. The key to creating great relationships is understanding who we are dealing with and figuring out how to communicate with them in the right way.

BUSINESS

Advertising is a creative business, but it is still a business. You act as a consultant, entrepreneur and creative problem solver ... all in the same day. It is an amazingly competitive and creative industry whose lessons can educate you regardless of what you do.

SELF-REFLECTION

The best times of growth start by looking inside yourself. By figuring out what you want, being honest about your flaws and figuring out if you want to ignore them, accept them or confront them.

I write to think.

I’m a husband. A father. An aging athlete.

I grew up in Vancouver. I met my wife in Montreal. Spent a couple of years in NYC. I made a stop in Toronto. And I’ve recently moved to LA.

I lead marketing teams. I build strategies that drive millions in revenue. I’ve been both on the client and the creative agency side. And I've been doing it for more than 14 years. It shocked me when I did the math, because it definitely doesn't feel that long.

I’m trying to read a book a week. Some go easy and some are a slog. I recently figured out that the key to success with it is to quit the books that suck.

I write because it helps me think. It forces me to transform my thoughts into words. I love telling stories. It keeps me a practiced observer of people, relationships and the world that we live in.

And I learn by doing.
